GenCell Energy People Power: Interview with Alex Saucedo, Director of Sales, Americas

During his recent visit to GenCell headquarters for Q3 planning meetings, we had the opportunity to sit down with Alex Saucedo, our Director of Sales, Americas, to learn a little bit more about one of the key members of our sales management team. Alex is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is responsible for GenCell sales operations throughout the Americas.

Q. Hi Alex, we’re pleased to have an opportunity to get to know you a little better. Can you tell our readers a bit about your background?

Alex_Saucedo
A.  Certainly. I was born in Mexico City, Mexico. I moved to the United States with my parents and family and grew up in the state of Georgia. Thanks to my Mexican heritage, I speak both Spanish and English fluently. I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy, during my service I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. I have been married for twenty-five years and have three wonderful daughters, aged 20, 16 and 12.

In my free time, I am an active boater. I fell in love with the ocean during my days in the Navy and one of my favorite pastimes is to be out at sea.  Also thanks to the Navy, I had the chance to see more of the world and I love to travel.  Some of the places I most enjoyed visiting were Italy, and especially the city of Rome, Norway, and I also love visiting the islands of the Caribbean.  Still I have to admit that the most interesting and beautiful place I have ever been is Israel, especially due to its historical sites and fascinating cultural attributes.

Q. Can you also tell us a bit about your professional background?

A. I have been working in industrial sales for over twenty years, where I have had the chance to be involved in many rewarding and challenging positions in the mining, aerospace, oil and gas sectors. Before I joined GenCell, I worked for another fuel cell manufacturer in the U.S. where I learned a great deal about the technology and the advantages it offers for so many different industries and applications. I find it especially rewarding to be involved with pioneering technology and to be part of the hydrogen revolution that will bring important benefits to the economy and the environment.

Q. Can you tell us why you decided to join GenCell?

A. In fact, one of the main reasons I joined GenCell is because it is based in Israel. I have always been impressed by the many innovative technologies that are developed in Israel, and I was even considering opening a business to import Israeli technology to the U.S. So I can tell you that in a way my prayers were answered when I was approached with the opportunity to join the GenCell team. This position allowed me to both leverage my knowledge of the fuel cell industry while at the same time be a part of an innovative Israeli technology company, so really it was like a dream come true.

Q. What is the thing you most enjoy about working at GenCell?

A. The aspect I find most rewarding in working with GenCell is the team, I have been fortunate to meet so many interesting people from very different backgrounds. Like any technology company, we do experience many challenges at GenCell, but the company is agile and proactive and moves quickly to make decisions to resolve issues that arise. I appreciate GenCell’s philosophy and approach of continuous improvement and am sure that this outlook will enable the company to achieve its objectives.

Q. What is your personal vision regarding climate change and sustainability?

A. As a GenCell employee, I take sustainability very seriously. It is important to me to be part of the movement to reduce the world’s dependency on fossil fuels and to eliminate the greatest sources of pollution – namely, diesel generators, especially in developing countries where the deployment of such a large number of diesel generators is causing so many people to suffer from air pollution and contamination. I wholeheartedly ascribe to GenCell’s long-term vision to introduce carbon-free sourceGenCell Energy People Power: Interview with Alex Saucedo, Director of Sales, Americas – GenCell – Fuel Cell Generatorss of energy such as green ammonia that will have such an important impact on the environment and on improving people’s quality of life.

Q. Ideally where would you like to see yourself ten years from now?

A. I guess I’d have to say that ten years from now I’d like to be able to look back on my career with satisfaction, knowing that I will have been able to make a significant impact on the industry. I hope I will be able to say that I contributed to improvement of the means by which the world generates electricity. Knowing that will let me feel grateful that the time I invested in my work was well-spent.

—Welcome to the new gold standard for a sustainable energy future.
