EVOX deployment at California Mobility Center

GenCell partnered with the California Mobility Center (CMC) in Sacramento to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation; the two parties agreed to demonstrate the zero-emission GenCell EVOX® bridge power solution for fast EV charging at CMC’s Sacramento facility throughout 2024.  The start of the partnership was marked by an EVOX EXPO event at the CMC Ramp-up Factory to demonstrate the EVOX live in action and showcase the latest in EV charging and backup power technologies. The Expo offered an exciting opportunity for industry professionals, policy makers and RE & EV enthusiasts to discover how GenCell can contribute to the future of sustainable energy and transportation by equipping mobility hubs with rapidly deployable fast EV charging.

Held at the CMC, a pioneering public-private partnership aimed at fostering innovation and commercialization in the clean mobility sector, and sponsored by the Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition, an association working to reduce the use of petroleum in transportation and improve air quality, the EVOX EXPO event not only demonstrated the EVOX solution in action, but also facilitated discussions on the future of clean mobility, the integration of renewable energy sources, and the democratization of decarbonization. Stakeholders interested in the future of energy and transportation gathered to engage in meaningful dialogue around the challenges and opportunities presented by the transition to electric transportation.

Why EVOX at the CMC?

The California Mobility Center, serving many of their partners and member companies mandated to electrify their fleets, needs DC fast charging capacity. To date the Ramp-up Factory at CMC headquarters lacks sufficient electrical infrastructure to power fast chargers and the wait time for a transformer upgrade from the utility is 18 months or more.

GenCell EVOX® to the rescue. Just roll up the EVOX and connect it to the 208V 3 phase circuit on-site and start charging – police cars, school buses, military transports, ambulances, delivery vans – any electric vehicle that must be operationally ready to go on-demand.

And if grid power is insufficient due to an emergency, outage or peak demand, the EVOX zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell will kick in immediately to generate power on-site.

The Result: A Sustainable AND Resilient 24/7/365 Solution – Bridge Power for DC Fast EV Charging – when, where and for as long as you need it

MORE DETAILS ABOUT EVOX:

The GenCell EVOX multi-purpose power solution delivers green, grid-independent, resilient power for DC fast charging, backup, and emergency operations.

  • Resilient bridge power ensures critical public electric fleets 24/7 operational readiness
  • Grid-connectable battery storage + fuel cell generation + EMS software in portable, 20 ft. containers facilitate rapid dispatchability, mobility, flexibility and modularity
  • Supplementary power for routine DC fast charging operations doubles during outages as a grid-independent backup power source for facilities, emergency and disaster response
  • Rapid deployment of 3-phase 480V power supply in areas lacking infrastructure for EV charging can substitute or postpone costly, time-consuming grid upgrades to overcome the growing power gap caused by mandates for expanded electrification
  • Island-able microgrid and DER development potential to support EV charging and reliable backup power in diverse, remote off-grid locations and underdeveloped / disadvantaged communities, from Native American tribes seeking energy sovereignty to CalFire and CALEMA seeking temporary power solutions for emergency situations to military sites.
  • 100% zero-emission hydrogen-fueled solutions comply with sustainability incentives and are eligible for a variety of grants and tax credits
  • Unique EV EMS optimizing resource consumption, peak shaving and dynamic loads reduces the ongoing cost of EV charging

—Welcome to the new gold standard for a sustainable energy future.
