GENCELL AWARDED FIRST PLACE IN HOMELAND SECURITY SEMI-FINALS AND SECOND PLACE OVERALL IN THE GSC2020 GLOBAL START-UP CHALLENGE 2020

Petach Tikvah, Israel – January 30, 2020 – GenCell Energy, a leading Israel-based manufacturer of fuel cell energy solutions, proudly announces that GenCell was awarded first place in the homeland security sector from a short list of eight finalists and second place overall out of the 32 finalists in the Global Startup Challenge 2020, the largest and most recognized start-up competition in Israel.

GenCell was selected from hundreds of applicants to appear on the short list and participate in the semi-finals and grand finals of the competition, which was held on January 29th at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Following an intensive pitch workshop, GenCell President and CBDO Gil Shavit participated in the homeland security semi-finals and was invited alongside representatives from the 32 cutting-edge start-up finalists to present GenCell in front of a panel of C-level executives from leading global corporations, investors and experts from across the tech ecosystem.

As the second place winner, GenCell will receive IP consultation on trademarks, patents and designs and legal services from a respected law firm; the company also gained valuable exposure and access to the audience of Israeli mentors, investors, and entrepreneurs who contributed from their personal experience and know-how as well as to the participants from a range of start-ups across four industry categories – homeland security, supply chain & retail, smart infrastructure & mobility and Industry 4.0  The challenge was judged by top executives from leading corporations eager to find innovative, disruptive technologies that will set their users apart from their competition.
